Akeela Rodriguez poured in 32 goals from 44 attempts to guide Marvellites past La Brea Stardust, 40-26, in the A Division of the San Fernando Netball League played at the Southern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Pleasantville on Saturday.
Rodriguez scored with 73 percent accuracy and got support from goal-attack Sharon Phillip, who capably fed her goal-shooter and produced eight of 15 in the one-sided match. Shooting for Stardust were Reian Renallo, who scored the bulk of her team’s goals with 19 off 29, and Afiya O’Shaughnessy (7/14).
In the other match in the A Division, shooting duo Micaela Springle and Liliah Matthews saw Les Enfants to an easy 45-28 victory over Shooters. Springle, the goal-shooter, shot with 90 percent accuracy, connecting 27 in 30 while her goal-attack Matthews was creative in getting to 18 off 31 in another lopsided affair.
Goal-shooter Cherry Mendoza was best in the circle for Shooters with 13 in 27.
Les Enfants also celebrated victory in its club B Division match, thanks to the shooting of Celeste Hypolite and Jayda Hector. Hypolite hit 19 of 23 (83 percent) and Hector added seven in nine to help their team triumph 26-11 over Tiger Tanks, which had no players reaching double-figures.
Tiger Tanks used three shooters in Ashli Wilkinson (6/15), Shereece Cain (3/5) and Mickala Quarless (2/3) but still fell to the 15-goal defeat.
