Goal-shooters Aaliyah Mulrain and Crystal Jones will square off against each other on either end of the court when their teams meet in the final to battle for the Second Division title in the 79th Lystra Lewis Port-of-Spain Netball League.

Mulrain reigned in the circle for SWWTU Malvern, scoring a match-high 34 goals from 45 attempts to see her team to a 42-32 victory over Malta Carib Senators in the semifinals of the Final Four on Thursday at the Jean Pierre Complex in Mucurapo.

Down on the other end, Zakiya McKenna scored the bulk of Senators goals’ 23 in 32 but it was not enough to overcome the might of Malvern, which led at the end of each quarter, 9-7 in the first, 24-14 at the half and 32-21 in the third. The win will see Malvern meet Horizon in the final thanks to 32 of 42 from Jones, which helped eliminate Transcend 52-38 in the other semifinal match-up. Goal-attack Sherry Thomas worked in the circle with Jones and she added 20 of 36 in the win.

Transcend made a good start and opened up with a two-goal (11-9) at the end of the first quarter. However, Horizon did not stay down for long and pulled levelled with its opponent at the half, 21-21, going on to outscore them in the third stanza for a 33-27 advantage heading into the final period.

Then Horizon scored 19 compared to Transcend’s 11 to claim a 14-goal victory. The two finalists met once already for the season and it was Malvern sealing a narrow 31-28 victory. Horizon also topped Transcend in the Kiwi Division, beating them 20-3 while the other match in the division between Malvern and Ebony ended in a draw, 10-10.
