Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) proved its win on Monday to capture the Jean Pierre Challenge title was no fluke, returning the following day to close off league action with a victory over Bermudez in the Court All Sectors Netball League.

Led again by Dionne James and Ayanna Peters with the inclusion of Roannta Dalrymple later on, UTC defeated Bermudez, 39-27 on Tuesday evening at the Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence in Macoya.

As they did in the win against Police on Monday in the final of the Knockout competition for teams in that division, James and Peters opened in the circle for UTC, giving their team a good start leading 10-7 at the end of the first quarter. UTC remained ahead at the half, increasing its lead to eight (21-13).

Bermudez through goal-shooter Maked DeFreitas, who scored the bulk of her team's goals with 20 in 27, fought back in the third period and reduced its deficit to six (28-22) heading into the final quarter.

However, UTC had other ideas and pulled away again to close out with a 12-goal victory.

James was best for UTC, shooting with 82 per cent accuracy, producing 23 goals off 28 tries. Peters poured in 13 of 19 and Dalrymple added the other three off four attempts.

In the opening match of the evening, the final match-up in the Alternative Division league competition, MIC Tigers closed off with a 20-goal (31-18) victory over Jabloteh, to finish runners-up in the standings with 10 points. MIC recorded five wins and a loss to place behind champion Fire, who played unbeaten this season for full 12 points. Third was Police Youth Club (PYC) with eight points from four wins and two losses.

Unfortunately, Jabloteh failed to register a win and placed at the bottom of the seven-team competition.

This evening, Police and Harlem meet in the opening match of the Retro Divsion knockout competition from 5.30 pm.

Later, Premiership teams get their chance to compete for their divisional knockout title.
