Vincent, John pilot Hibiscus Ladies to victory

Rachel Vincent and Shari John effective batting, combined with brilliant bowling from Natasha McClean, saw Hibiscus Ladies pulled a six-wicket upset win over leader Preysal Phoenix in the T&T Women's Association's (TTWCA) 50 Over League on Sunday at the Eddie Hart Ground in Tacarigua.

Both players recorded half centuries with Vincent producing 73 runs and John, 62, in fourth round action of the Premiership Division over the head of the points table in the six-team competition.

Phoenix batted first and thanks to McClean with 5/46 were bowled out for 181. Getting them to the reasonable score were top batsman Samantha Bissoon with a half century (61) as well while her teammate Shenelle Lord added 39.

In reply, Vincent and John were batted confidently in the innings, carrying Hibiscus to 182-4 in 43.1 overs.

Kajol Dalgir was best with the ball for Phoenix, which suffered its first loss of the season, with 2/28.

At Pinto Recreation Ground in Arima, Technocrats claimed its second win in four rounds of matches, defeating Cricket Lovers by seven wickets.

Cricket Lovers, batting first and was 80 all out in its allotted innings. This was due to the bowling of Jodian Morgan, who secured 4/13 and A Sitaram with 3/27.

Technocrats needed just 7.1 overs to reach the winning target of 82 runs for the lost of three wickets. They were led by West Indies allrounder Stacy Ann King, who produced an unbeaten 47.

In the other match in the division at Riversdale in St Joseph, Players Sports topped Moosai Sports Club by 10 wickets in a shortened match.

In fourth round action in the Championship Division 30-Over League, Achievers pulled off a narrow one-wicket win over Cricket Divas at the Couva East Secondary School in the lone match played in the category.

The match between Waterloo Allstars and UWI will be played on Friday at UWI, St Augustine. JFK is on bye this round.

Matches in the TTWCA's Twenty20 League continue tomorrow in both divisions at various venues.
