Goal-shooter Donessa Wickham was key in helping Police hand Jabloteh, its most unwanted send off for the Carnival break with its heaviest defeat of the season, 47-19 in the Courts All Sectors Netball League on Thursday evening.

This was in the opening match in a Championship Division double-header which took place at Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence in Macoya.

Wickham, the goal-shooter, produced 26 goals from 36 tries for the Policewomen, who had no mercy on its opponent leading throughout the encounter, with a 14-5 advantage in the first period, 24-10 at the half and 39-14 in the third, going on to seal the huge 28-goal victory.

Jeselle Navarro and Giselle Norton each also had a role in the win, combining for the other 21 goals. Navarro opened in the goal-attack position and she hit 10 off 19 before she was replaced by Norton, who slotted in 11 from the same number of attempts.

For Jabloteh, Simone Bartholomew scored the bulk of its goals, putting in 14 of 29 but her team suffered its third straight loss after its lone win of the season. Jabloteh had beaten TSTT (35-32) before falling to Defence Force (26-16) and Bermudez (36-35) to be in seventh place.

Police on the other hand celebrated its fourth consecutive victory, already beating Las Lomas (36-29), TSTT (39-37) and Defence Force (38-29), respectively, to remain on top the eight-team competition.

In the second match of the evening turned out to be lopsided as well with Fire burning TSTT, 40-26.

Goal-shooter Cameisha Leslie led her team with 32 in 52 while her gaol-attack sunk eight off 14 tries.

Shooting for TSTT were shared among Sophia Harper (11/20), Chantael Perry 10/12 and Candace Gibbs (5/7).

The league takes a two-week break, returning on February 15 with another double-header in the Championship Division with the Unit Trust Centre (UTC) team meeting Defence Force at 5.30 pm and Bermudez faces Police from 6.45 pm.
